Can your chimney and/or fireplace be a health hazard?

If you have a fireplace, or a wood, oil or gas burning stove, it may become a health hazard if it isnít cleaned regularly.  Creosote deposits build up over time in the chimney and can create a serious fire hazard that can ignite inside your chimney.  Another health hazard is carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that is a dangerous health hazard that is a by-product of burning wood.  We recommend annual chimney inspections and carbon monoxide detectors should be installed on each floor of your home, as well as near sleeping areas in order to let you know if there are any possible venting problems.
